Psychosis and Intellectual Disability

This training focuses on psychosis as it affects people with ID.

In this course, we will:

  • Discuss general considerations of what constitutes a mental disorder.
  • Examine the definition of psychosis and psychotic symptoms.
  • Consider possible cultural variables in ideas about psychosis.
  • Explain how psychosis may be expressed differently by people with cognitive or communication differences.
  • Explore ideas for effective supports for people with ID who may be experiencing symptoms of psychosis.
