The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) serves as an advisory body to the CDD in our role as the state’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). The CDD CAC includes members from all regions of the state ensuring the needs of those living in both rural and urban regions of the state are represented.
CDD CAC members include individuals living with disability, parents/family members of individuals with disabilities, professional colleagues/partners and representatives from Disability Rights New Mexico and the NM Developmental Disability Planning Council – the CDD’s “DD Network” partners. CDD CAC members are appointed and many are graduates of the Partners in Policymaking Program.
Membership in the CDD CAC offers an opportunity for “Partners” alumni to continue and expand their roles as advocates and leaders. In addition to our bi-annual in-person meetings, CDD CAC facilitators meet with CAC members throughout the year via video conferencing.
